Not Without Fail

Aaron and I are firm believers of whatever you’ve been given to do, do it with all your might.  Ecclesiastes goes on to say; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave.  And that is where we all will end up one day! This week, we have been having this exact conversation with Eli, our 9 almost 10-year-old son.  He is a very bright young man, wise beyond his years, but he allows distractions to come in that keep him from doing the very best that he can do. I’m going to be very vulnerable for a moment. Eli was diagnosed as ADHD a few years ago.  He isn’t hyper or out of control, he just has trouble focusing on the task at hand.  It doesn’t matter if it is a pencil dropping on the other side of the room, or footsteps of someone in...

Set The Table

This one goes out to all the hard workingmen and women out there.  You know who you are.  It doesn’t mean that you work outside of the home to work hard.  Over the last 10 + years, I have worked both inside and outside the home.  They both have their challenges. Come on…  You know what I am talking about…  When you work within the home, it doesn’t exactly meet the financial needs that you would like.  And when you work outside the home, you don’t meet the needs of the home period…  I found my self-struggling to “Keep” my house when I was working a full time job.  I didn’t have time to go to the grocery, let alone have time to cook.  By the time I got everyone picked up in the afternoon and headed home, I was exhausted and couldn’t...

The Ultimate Conflict

Have you ever really thought about the word conflict?  When did it first appear in history?  What causes conflict in our world?  Conflict is war between opposing forces, especially a prolonged and bitter struggle.  It is a difference in ideas, principles or people. Conflict is also a mental struggle.  It’s a psychological state resulting from the often-unconscious opposition between simultaneous but incompatible desires, needs, drives and impulses.      Conflict is that point between good and evil…  The first recorded conflict in history would be the conflict between God and Satan.  Although the bible doesn’t give exact time of when this conflict took place, we obviously know that it did.  Satan’s fall from heaven is symbolically described...

It’s a Faith Walk

Well… I assume that most of you have heard the news that Aaron and I are planting a brand new church in Hendersonville, TN.  We leave San Antonio in June and the first Sunday at Restoring Hope Church is 9.14.14.  It is exciting and terrifying all at the same time.  Aaron has been telling me for a year that this was coming, and the more he said it, the more I said “NAH”…  Well, God has a way of making us surrender. To say that we have it all figured out would be a stretch of the truth, but day-by-day, God is showing us the steps to take.  That old song “One day at a time, Sweet Jesus” is coming to our mind over and over.  It is a faith walk! Isn’t that what life is supposed to be about?  I mean, if we have everything in our own ability, then...

Be the Gift

Christmas has been wonderful to say the least…  I don’t know how you do it at your house, but besides sleeping at night, I didn’t sit down for 2 days straight.  It was only Aaron, our 3 little ones, and myself, but I cooked until I had nothing left in this house to make.  I loved every second of it! I mean forget the fact that sickness has ran thru this house like a marathon on steroids, or the kids haven’t stopped fighting since they got out of school, or the fact that my hands are chapped and cracked open from being in water so much, Christmas has been fabulous! Christmas morning our children woke us up at 4:52 am…  YES…  I said AM!  Wanting so badly to see what Santa brought them.  Our 2 older children no longer believe in Santa and...
