Be the Gift

Christmas has been wonderful to say the least…  I don’t know how you do it at your house, but besides sleeping at night, I didn’t sit down for 2 days straight.  It was only Aaron, our 3 little ones, and myself, but I cooked until I had nothing left in this house to make.  I loved every second of it!

I mean forget the fact that sickness has ran thru this house like a marathon on steroids, or the kids haven’t stopped fighting since they got out of school, or the fact that my hands are chapped and cracked open from being in water so much, Christmas has been fabulous!

Christmas morning our children woke us up at 4:52 am…  YES…  I said AM!  Wanting so badly to see what Santa brought them.  Our 2 older children no longer believe in Santa and understand the true meaning of Christmas, but they still like the excitement of presents appearing under the tree over night.  Aaron and I finally gave in at 6:15 to come down stairs to see what all had been left at the Crabb house.  While Aaron and I were mustering up enough strength to get out of bed, we hear Eva scream; “we are so blessed”.  She hadn’t opened the first gift yet and for all she knew there were rocks in those beautifully wrapped packages.  Which now that I think of it, that would’ve been a lot cheaper on Mom and Dad!

Eli got his Wii U that he wanted, Eva got the remote control Barbie car, and Ean got the super hero pack that included every marvel character.  His expression was priceless as he said; “THIS IS AWESOME!”

Although I realized that I had all I ever wanted for Christmas sitting beside me, my husband felt the need to spoil me this year.  He has discovered the fact that women’s clothes are much less expensive as men’s are.  At least they are at the stores that I love anyway….  I love Cotton On.  It is a store with leggings and those oversized shirts that I love to wear so much.  It hides all the skin left over from my 3 pregnancies.  Then there is Charming Charlie’s.  It is a store that overwhelms me when I walk in.  Everything is color coordinated with jewelry, clothes, and purses.  It is a women’s dream closet.  To have everything in perfect color separation…  That will never be reality in my closet, but this store shows me what could be if I’d become OCD enough.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Needless to say…  On this 27th day of December I am reflecting…  Before one gift was placed under our tree, I had all I ever wanted.

We have a loving savior who is better to us than we deserve.  His grace is amazing and reaches farther than we could ever imagine.

He has blessed me with such an incredible partner in life.  Aaron is my best friend.  I sometimes wonder what I did right to deserve such a man.  His laughter is contagious and his kindness is heartwarming.  He is my greatest gift!

And because of him, I have 3 beautiful gifts that keep on giving!   Eli, Eva and Ean…  I mean even though they make me want to pull my hair out, and no sooner than I get the kitchen cleaned up from the last meal, they are screaming that they are starving and want to eat again, and not to mention the messes they leave us in the bathroom, they are truly gifts to us!

I understand that not everyone is as fortunate as I am and as many of you are.  There are people that didn’t have anyone to spend the holiday with.  There are children who didn’t get one gift under the tree.

There are those that didn’t have a warm place to lay their head.  When I begin to think in this capacity, I wonder what more we could do?   I mean we bought gifts for 3 different children that didn’t have a Christmas.  We provided Christmas meals for 2 families this year, but is there something else?

Our little family doesn’t have the financial means to reach everyone, but each of us can do something.  There are people across the world that doesn’t have clean water to drink.  There are children who are being sexually exploited right here on our own soil.  There are men and women who are sacrificing their family time and lives to protect our freedom.  What I am saying is, there are organizations that we can continue to give to all year long.  We can stand together and make a difference in our world!  We can be the one to give Jesus all year long and not just at Christmas time!

I love this blog. We are blessed! Love you

    • I loved the blog & you & Aaron& the whole Crabb Family. There is another org that is near & dear to my heart. Tho you see on T V, the starving children around the world, we have starving children right here in America. I’m not at home right now, at my sister’s for Christmas, but I’m sure it can be found on the Internet, it’s a shame we are feeding children everywhere else, when we have children right here that go to bed every night hungry. The name of the org. Is Feed The Children. I’ve been giving what little I can for a lot of yrs. on SSI, but I am asking you to please give what you can to our own little children, thank you. Love In Christ

I could see your kids in my mind and hear the giggles! it is always a blessing to have such joy! our Lord wants us to be happy and I know of people that think it is wrong for the little ones to believe in santa but if they slowed down enough to teach and tell them about Jesus and let them see Jesus in us, it makes a difference. because one day they grow up. and even at an early age, the kids know the difference. they can feel it.
there are children in each community that goes without and if folks want to help, go to their local schools and talk to the principal. they can’t tell you who they are but they will direct the donations. our youth makes little happy bags and we take them and drop them at the elementary school. they always are thankful and it teaches our kids about giving. Blessings to you and your family and may Jesus always keep you safe!!
